Therefore, if you collected mountain ash early, you can hold it for a day - two in the freezer.

Before placing in a jar for insisting, the berries must be thoroughly washed and dried. Dried fruits will not give up so much juice and useful substances to alcohol, but, in extreme cases, this option can also be used.

Mountain ash is insisted on average from 3 to 6 weeks, and after straining, the drink is aged additionally. Although it will be ready for use, with “age” it will become tastier and richer, and sweetness and fruity notes will better combine with alcoholic taste. Since the drink is made in the fall, the first test is removed for the New Year, and after that you can return to the healthy elixir for Easter, May holidays and even in the summer.

Important: mountain ash is one of the most convenient products for the preparation of liquors, since it contains a natural preservative - sorbic acid. To prepare homemade liquids you will need:

  • Cognac - 500 ml.
  • Honey - 2 tbsp. l
  • Red mountain ash - 250 g.

You will also need an oak tree (bark, bast, shavings - any component can be purchased at the pharmacy or collected and processed independently) - 1 tbsp. l

The selected berries are poured into a liter jar and poured with cognac, then oak bark is added and honey is introduced, stirring until completely dissolved. The jar is tightly closed and sent to the pantry for a month or two. The infused mountain ash is filtered and given to the finished drink to ripen for some more time - until the liquid becomes light. The drink is very festive and unusual.

Strong alcohol tincture: mountain ash vodka, moonshine

For harvesting, you need a 3-liter jar, the berries in it are laid in 2/3. Fill up the mountain ash gradually, pouring sugar. This volume will take 100-150 g of sand - try your berry for acid and determine the sweetness to your taste. Fruits are covered with alcohol with a “cap”, about 500 ml should go.

Tightly closed mixture insist 4 weeks. After this, the strain is filtered and the berries are poured again with another 500 ml of vodka. The first nectar is stored in a closed container in the refrigerator, and the secondary mixture is insisted for another week. Finally, the drink is again filtered and combined with “syrup” with infused vodka.

Drinking a ready-made elixir is recommended no earlier than a month later, but in general, the drink in this form is ready for use - it is fragrant, unobtrusive and eliminates a severe hangover.

Healing tincture for health

If you want to get an elixir not for drinking, but for rubbing joints and cold compresses, mountain ash can be insisted without adding sugar. Alcohol and natural fruit acids interact perfectly without sweeteners, this drug will turn sour and tart to the taste. Some people like this recipe as a drink, you can try to make a small portion for the sake of experiment.

Homemade Rowan Wine

Useful autumn fruits can be used to make a very tasty, unlike anything wine. It will be tart in taste, and depending on the amount of added sugar, it will play with various notes of taste. Since rowan itself is a sour fruit, sugar in the recipe is necessary, otherwise the drink will not leap. You can make a classic composition of one mountain ash or a fruit bouquet by adding apples.

For cooking you will need:

  • 2.5 kg rowan
  • 1 liter of water
  • 500-750 g sugar
  • 20-30 g of raisins
  1. To make the wine soft, you need to remove tannins from the fruit. For this, the washed selected mountain ash is scalded with boiling water in a bowl and allowed to stand for 20-25 minutes. Do this 2 times: drain the first water, again pour boiling water, 25 minutes - and you're done.
  2. The softened berries are pressed with a rolling pin or passed through a meat grinder, after which the juice is carefully squeezed. The pulp is poured with hot water (80 ° C) in a separate pan and allowed to cool, having stood for 4 hours.
  3. Half the sugar is dissolved with the juice obtained and unwashed raisins are added, and better - home grapes - it contains wine yeast, due to which the fermentation process starts. The container is covered with gauze so that dust and insects do not get into the liquid, and left in a dark place for 2-3 days, stirring every day.
  4. When the mixture ferments, a foam appears, a sour smell, the liquid must be filtered through gauze, removing the cake. Juice is mixed with sugar residues, placed in a convenient jar and crowned with a rubber glove, making 1 small puncture in it. When choosing a tank, you need to consider that the wine should occupy 2/3 of the volume, the rest of the space remains for gas formation.
  5. The mixture is left in a warm place (+ 20- + 25 ° С) for several weeks, the wine will be ready when it stops fermenting - the glove will deflate and a precipitate will form at the bottom. After this, the drink must be carefully filtered, without lifting the thick from the bottom.

The obtained elixir is tried and, if necessary, sugar or honey is added for sweetness, as well as vodka or alcohol for fortress. Next, a water lock is installed again and the wine is kept cool for 3-4 months. The finished product is filtered, bottled in convenient bottles, tightly closed and stored in a refrigerator or cellar.
