How to get rid of aphids on trees: 4 ways

The first symptom of aphid infection is yellowed leaves spun down and buds covered with brown dots. Fruit trees weaken due to insects. The inflorescences, from which the fruits should form, fade and die. The branches are covered with a pad, a sweet coating. The aphid colony grows rapidly, destroying the garden. Fruit trees and shrubs can be saved by birds, insecticides and home remedies.

How to get rid of aphids on trees

Ash and soap

Juice is the main food of small bugs. They bite through delicate leaves and young shoots to get to the food. The immunity of the tree due to damage is reduced, spores of the fungus and other insects begin to attack it.

Aphids will leave the garden if the composition of the soil changes. Leaves become juicy and fleshy due to nitrogenous compounds. Substances neutralize with potassium chloride or potassium sulfur. Additives are brought into the ground in the fall, because in the spring they are absorbed by the root system and fall into the fruits. Poisonous compounds can cause intoxication of the body.

During flowering and ovary formation, wood ash is preferred. Dry powder is abundantly sprinkled around the soil around the trees. It changes the composition of the soil and leads to coarsening of the leaves, and also repels ants. Insects collaborate with aphids. They protect her from enemies, and in return get a pad.

Ash is used to prepare a solution from aphids. 300 g of raw material are mixed with 10 l of water. The composition is brought to a boil, removed and introduced into the cooled billet 40 g of shavings from laundry soap. The filtered liquid is poured into the sprayer and the trees are treated during the flowering period.

A simple solution from laundry soap also copes with pests. On a bucket of water take 1.5 bars of funds, grated on a fine grater. Heated and stirred until completely dissolved. Trees are sprayed with a soapy composition and left for a day, and then arranged for souls affected plants. Water will wash away the remnants of laundry soap and aphids.

Trunks of fruit and ornamental plants are wrapped with foil before processing. The width of the shiny belt should be at least 15 cm, so that ants could not climb a slippery surface and evacuate aphids.

Garlic, mustard and onions

Pests often attack plum trees, because it is on them that young shoots are formed annually. Insects start with fragile shoots and gradually rise higher. Thin branches growing at the very roots are cut in spring or autumn. Pieces of exfoliated bark are removed with a spatula or knife. The barrel is treated with a solution of lime. In most cases, preventative measures are enough to protect the trees from aphids.

Aphid Garlic

If the removal of the bark and young shoots has not yielded results, insects begin to fight with folk methods. Pests are scared away by garlic. In 5 l, 200 g of peeled and chopped heads are soaked. Use after 2 days, diluting 500 ml of the product with 10 l of settled water. Caustic essential oils drive away aphids and disinfect the surface of leaves infected with the fungus.

Garlic remedy is replaced with onion. 2-3 large vegetables are cut, mixed in equal proportions with the husk and add 10 l of water. In the evening, the raw materials are soaked, and in the morning the liquid solution is drained, the cake is squeezed out and the sick and healthy trees are treated with the onion composition. The procedure can be repeated after 5-7 days if the first spraying did not give the expected results.

When black aphids are infected, 200 g of shag or tobacco and wood ash are introduced into the onion infusion. Insist the drug for a day. Before spraying, filter with gauze, add 300 g of soap chips and 80 ml of kerosene. It turns out a concentrated product that copes with aphids the first time.Trees with such a composition need to be processed before the fruit is formed or after harvesting.

The solution of onion husks and kerosene is supplemented with a hunting belt. Take a wide bandage or gauze, impregnate with tar and wrap around the trunk. Aphids and ants stick to the workpiece, the number of pests decreases rapidly. Instead of a bandage, double-sided tape is used. The only minus of the hunting belt is that it does not protect against flying aphids that appear in the garden in the middle of summer.

Infected leaves of ornamental and fruit trees are treated with Coca-Cola or similar soda. 2-3 tbsp. Are added to the drink l shampoo or gel, gently shake. Put a spray bottle on the bottle and apply a sweet liquid to the bottom of the sheet.

Mustard powder saves from aphids. 30–40 g of spice are taken per 1 liter of boiling water. The raw materials are brewed with hot water and stirred, and after cooling they are poured into a spray bottle and the branches and trunk of the affected tree are sprayed. The treatment is repeated several times. The break between the procedures is 5-6 days.

Herbs and Soda

Aphids do not tolerate alkaline environment. You can fight insects with soda ash. Food does not fit, it is too soft. 10 l of water is mixed with 60 g of powder, 30 ml of dishwashing detergent or cheap shampoo are added to the composition. You can add 40 g of potassium soap or washing gel.

The solution is applied to trees and bushes even during the formation of the fruit. The tool copes not only with insects, but also with powdery mildew.

An effective infusion of aphids is prepared from dandelions. In 10 l of warm water, 400 g of chopped roots or stems of the plant are soaked with leaves and flowers. The product is set aside for 2 hours, filtered and poured into a sprayer. Roots can be skipped through a meat grinder with garlic. For 0.5 kg of dandelion take 200 g of spiced vegetable. Add 1 tbsp. l red pepper and mustard powder. Dissolve the mass in 10 l of water and insist. Harvesting saves from apple, melon and cabbage aphids, destroys ticks and fungus. A solution of dandelions and garlic is sprayed with trees during budding and after flowering.

Chamomile is the most gentle way to fight insects. It will take 1 kg of stems and inflorescences per 10 liters of liquid base. In the evening, the plant is finely chopped and soaked, and in the morning, the affected and healthy trees are treated with the composition.

Chamomile from aphids

The garden is cleaned of pests by celandine. In 3 l of boiling water, 1 kg of shredded grass is soaked. After cooling, add a bucket of water and leave for 2 days. The finished solution is not diluted, but immediately poured into a sprayer.

If aphids appear annually, it is recommended to harvest several bunches of dope. The plant is harvested during flowering. Only the stems are cut, the rhizomes are left in the ground. Dried raw materials are steamed with boiling water: 1 liter of liquid is taken for 50 g of the workpiece. Filter through 12 hours, add 100 g of laundry soap to the product.

A solution of nettle drives aphids from fruit trees and shrubs. The product is prepared from 0.5 kg of fresh raw materials and 6 liters of water. Sprigs of a burning plant are finely chopped, mixed with a liquid base and insisted for 12 hours, or preferably a day. The solution is filtered and applied to the leaves, trying not to process the roots of the trees.

Aphid copes with aphids. Raw materials are harvested during flowering, dried in the sun and stored in a ventilated area. At the first signs of aphids, 1 kg of plants is poured into a pan and soaked in 2-3 liters of water. The solution is infused for 8 hours, then put on the stove and brought to a boil. In a hot product, 100 g of laundry soap is introduced and cooled. The cold workpiece is filtered and applied to the leaves.

Aphid colony is destroyed by orange or lemon peels. The amount of raw material per 1 liter of water depends on the degree of infection. The higher the concentration, the more effective the solution. The zest is brewed with hot water, insist 3 days. With an undiluted agent, trees are sprayed.

Pest repel tobacco. Ordinary cigarettes will do. 40-50 g of raw material are taken per 1 liter of base.Bring to a boil, insist 2 hours, and then mix with soap or potash soap. Tobacco is poisonous, so the roots of the trees before spraying are covered with plastic wrap so that the product does not absorb into the ground and does not fall into the fruit.

Garden plants are disinfected with a solution of needles. Pine or spruce will do. Take 500 g of raw materials and 2 liters of boiling water. Insist a week, diluted with water. On 1 l of the base, 100 ml of coniferous agent. Trees are sprayed every 7 days until the aphids completely disappear.

Biological weapons

At 10-15 m from the garden, it is recommended to break a flower bed with flowers that lure aphids. These include:

Nasturtium from aphids

  • nasturtium;
  • mallow;
  • petunia;
  • begonia;
  • cleoma.

Insects, attracted by the smell of plants, leave the trees and move to a flower bed. They remain on the bushes until the fall. In October or November, flowers that acted as bait are dug up and burned. Aphid lays eggs in the roots and stems to winter, and in the spring to return to the garden.

Around the fruit and ornamental trees, flowers are planted to repel aphids. This group includes:

  • marigold;
  • coriander;
  • chamomile;
  • fennel;
  • mint;
  • onion.

The plants have an intense and pungent odor that aphids cannot tolerate. Insects try to leave the trees, next to which marigolds or mint blossom.

Birds scare away pests: tits, linnet, wrens, sparrows and kings. Helper animals are attracted by grain and bread feeders. They should hang in the garden not only in spring and summer, but also in winter.

If the birds do not want to make nests in the yard, you can settle next to the trees of predatory insects. Aphids are destroyed by lacewings, ladybugs, bugs, wasps and ground beetles. They are attracted by dill, cloves, carrots, nettles and parsley.

Folk remedies are the easiest and safest way to control pests. Processing is carried out several times, because aphids have time to lay eggs. Only leaves are sprayed, and the roots of the trees are not touched. It will take 2 to 4 treatments. If folk remedies do not work, you need to use insecticides.
