However, situations are different, so the question becomes relevant at any time. An unpleasant phenomenon is excluded by folk and chemical properties, let's talk about everything in order.

How to get rid of linen lice

Features of linen lice

There are many pests that, by their nature, prefer to live in human habitation. For this reason, it is important to recognize lice and eliminate them in time.

  1. Linen lice about 2-3 mm in size. have an elongated belly without wings. The parasites that live on clothes and bedding are difficult to notice, since they are almost colorless (whitish).
  2. Linen lice are confused with bedbugs, but pests of this kind feed on blood. After saturation, their belly becomes scarlet or brownish. If we talk about larvae, they resemble the "older generation" of a smaller size.
  3. Linen lice feed on human blood, so they are carriers of many diseases. The insect cannot fully exist without food for more than 3 days, so it constantly keeps close to the person.
  4. People with a lot of things do not fall into the main category of victims. If you send the affected product to the closet for a long time, the parasites will soon die out due to lack of food.
  5. Pests of this kind multiply actively and leave larvae (nits) behind them, the louse lice have a life of 1 month. Even after the death of adults, the younger generation will grow up in a short time.
  6. Bed lice are a danger to humans, their bites cause tremendous discomfort. After damage to the cells, the skin begins to itch, redden and swell, people often develop lice. In addition, lice are considered active carriers of Volyn fever, relapsing fever or typhus.
  7. Blood poisoning with a dangerous disease does not occur during a bite. When lice infect the body, and you comb the damaged area, it is this move that allows pathogens to get inside.
  8. Body lice settle exclusively on wardrobe items that come in contact with human skin. In most cases, pets are not at risk, and therefore are not carriers. Infection is possible only between people.

Causes of the appearance of linen lice

  • lack of regular washing of things and bedding;
  • wearing one clothes for a long time;
  • frequent presence in unsanitary conditions;
  • neglect of hygiene rules;
  • close contact with infected people;
  • permanent business trips;
  • Unprocessed linen in hotels, vehicles, hospitals, etc.

How to identify linen lice

  1. Lice bites are similar to fleas, but only a doctor can accurately identify who damaged the skin. If for some reason you do not want to visit a specialist, use the basic features.
  2. If fleas bite a person in open areas of the body and jump everywhere, lice carry out manipulations while under clothing. You can determine the bite of a parasite if you have scratched skin hidden by a tissue.
  3. Bed bugs are much larger than lice, they are found exclusively in thick blankets or mattresses (not on clothes). In size, lice resemble ticks with only one refinement - linen parasites have 6 legs (ticks have 8).
  4. Speaking of lice and tick bites, the former bite the surface of the skin, while the latter, on the contrary, bite into the cavity (under the upper layer of the dermis). In the case of lice, after combing, traces appear on the affected areas without a visible tubercle.

How to get rid of linen lice

Carrying out manipulations involves several stages, this includes the processing of the body, clothes and bedding, housing.

Cleaning technology

  1. If infection with lice could not be avoided, proceed to immediately cleanse the skin. Wash your body with household soap, take a hot bath or shower to kill parasites to the maximum. Next, disinfect the room with insecticides, process bedding.
  2. Prepare a solution of a large amount of sodium chloride and water, boil all the accessories. These include combs, headbands and hairpins, shaving accessories, etc. After that, lay out objects under direct sunlight, leave for 3 days.
  3. Acquire the essence of kalbofos with a concentration of 30-50%, soak the underwear in it. To prepare the solution, mix 3 gr. (50%) or 5 gr. (30%) malathion with 1.3 liters. warm water. Knead until smooth, send the laundry to the bowl for 3 hours, then boil and dry.
  4. To disinfect bedding or household items, use pyrethrum powder or a solution of kerosene, soap, and water (1: 3: 8 ratio). After processing, boil the laundry, leave to dry in fresh air for 10 days.

Garment Processing

  1. As mentioned earlier, linen lice settle on clothes and underwear, so it is necessary to conduct a thorough processing of fabric products. Boil each item of the wardrobe for 20-25 minutes. If possible, add chlorine (in the case of cotton, flax), karbofos, or another insecticide.
  2. You can do the same. Wash things in a typewriter, if possible set the maximum temperature (taking into account the fabric). Next, leave things to dry under the sun for 5-7 days, after this, repeat the manipulations.
  3. After boiling or thorough washing, proceed to ironing. Set the maximum power on the iron (again, considering the type of fabric), pay due attention to the seams. Do not rush to send things to the closet, hang them in a room already processed from lice.
  4. In the case of defeat of delicate things, heat treatment becomes impossible. There is no less effective option - cold exposure. Prepare bags of dense polyethylene in which there are no holes (sealed packaging). Send the clothes inside and tie. Leave in the freezer for 3-4 days, then remove and iron.

Hair and scalp treatment

  1. Not many people know, but cranberry juice can kill nits (lice eggs) and adults. Due to the acid of the berries, the deposited larvae decay and die.
  2. To carry out the manipulations, you will need a lot of liquid, so use a juicer (you can replace it with gauze). To process the head, take 130-150 gr. cranberries (for short hair), squeeze the juice into a separate bowl.
  3. Wash your hair with shampoo several times, rinse thoroughly with warm (almost hot) water. Distribute cranberry juice over your skin and hair so that there are no dry ringlets. The liquid should literally drain from the strands.
  4. Wrap your head in polyethylene or put on a rubber cap, use a heat-insulating cap if desired (you can replace it with a towel). Turn on the hairdryer and warm the mop for 15 minutes, periodically turning off the appliance.
  5. If juice flows out, repeat the procedure, moisten the hair with the composition. After 1 hour, start combing out lice with a comb with frequent teeth. Rinse the comb every time to remove parasites. Then wash your hair in the usual way, if necessary, repeat the procedure again.
  6. To fix the result, treat your hair every 2 days for one week. You can not use cranberry juice to exterminate lice from clothes and linen (the composition is very colored).

Universal methods for removing lice

  1. Medicinal decoction. Get dried rosemary, wormwood and medicinal chamomile (inflorescences) at the pharmacy, take 100 g each. each plant. Pour herbs with boiling water (2 liters) to get a strong infusion. Wash the hair with the composition, disinfect the housing, soak things in the composition. When treating the body, it is enough to rinse with infusion, then wipe the skin without rinsing it with water. Also, you can wash any surface of the apartment with a medicinal decoction, lice do not tolerate such a smell. Equally effective is the use of dry plants. Sprinkle them in the corners of the parasite cluster, send them to the closets with linen and clothes, stuff the nooks in the area of the bed, armchairs, sofa, etc.
  2. Tar soap. The product can be used to cleanse the body, head, floors, linen and clothes. It is enough to prepare a soap solution or rub the affected area with a bar, then rinse with warm / hot water. Tar soap can be replaced with dust soap, it is no less effective.
  3. Vinegar. A table vinegar solution with a concentration of 9% is considered effective only in the case of adults, nits from it will not die. Wash linen and clothes in water with vinegar, hang up to dry for 3 days. Spend surface treatment (floors, shelves, etc.), wipe the furniture trim.
  4. Turpentine. If you started disinfecting the room, use a solution of turpentine and warm water (ratio 1:12). Moisten a rag in the liquid, treat all corners and surfaces of the housing. After cleaning, do not wipe the cover with clean water, leave everything as it is.
  5. Chemicals There are quite a lot of insecticides with which you can remove linen lice. Consider the most popular and effective drugs. These include Bubil, Medifox, Pedilin, Permethrin, Karbofos, and NOC. The composition is available in various forms (powder, shampoo, gel).

Prevention of the appearance of linen lice

  1. Observe hygiene, do not exchange wardrobe items with friends.
  2. Regularly boil cotton and linen products, wash your clothes more often.
  3. Exclude being in rooms with unsanitary conditions or do not touch surfaces.
  4. Refuse to purchase used clothes, underwear and shoes. If you make a purchase, thoroughly disinfect with an insecticide.
  5. If it is not possible to process the entire wardrobe and apartment, leave the house for 10-14 days. During this period, lice will die out from a lack of food.

Perhaps one of the most effective ways to remove lice is dry cleaning. It gives 100% result even in the most severe cases. The procedure is carried out by processing in a steam-formalin chamber, as a result you get rid of pests completely. Collect all the items of the wardrobe and bedding, take it to a specialist. At this time, proceed to disinfect the premises.
