History of breed origin

Speaking about other types of cats, they do not always know the exact date of their birth, history and other data. But this is not the case. The ancestors of Chantilly Tiffany were purchased back in 1967 in a New York animal store, a woman named Jenny Robinson. Two small kittens of different sexes had long chocolate-colored fur.

In addition to the date, which is associated with the date of foundation of the breed, the names of kittens became known to mankind. The cat was called Thomas, and the cat was Shirley. After almost two years, namely in 1969, the feline couple finally became parents. The offspring of this breed was similar to their parents. Moreover, both in color and in the length of the coat. And after 7 years, cats of this species became at least six dozen. They gained popularity when the cat Thomas, along with his offspring, took part in a cat show in the early 70s of the 20th century.

After some time, the first breeder decided not to breed cats, and sold her pets to Sijin Lund. This woman was also a breeder, and called her new pets "foreign long-haired." But this name had to be changed, for the reason that the judges did not accept it, as it seemed unacceptable to them. Then she changed her name to Tiffany Theater, which should be associated with elegance and high class among people.

Everything was fine until misinformation appeared, which radically changed the attitude towards this breed. Someone thought that the representatives of Tiffany are descendants of Burmese cats, only long-haired. TICA recognized this breed of cats, but only as a variety of Burmese. To which the ACA refused, and did not recognize Tiffany at all.

After such a fateful turn, breeder Sigin Lund completed the breeding of Tiffany. Soon there were almost no cats of this breed. But in 1988, interest in them resumed. This time it was a Canadian breeder named Tracy Oraas. This woman conducted her investigation, and his results proved that long-haired cats with chocolate wool did not belong to the Burmese breed.

Subsequently, the Canadian breeder, along with Ian DeRegt, who was her companion, decided to make some changes and created their own program regarding breeding. At least four cat breeds took part in it: Havana with Somalia, as well as European Angora with Nibelungs. After several years of introducing innovations, Oraas was offered to change the name of the breed, because Tiffany was already bred in the UK earlier. To avoid confusion, the breeder decided to name the Chantilly Tiffany breed of chocolate long-haired cats.

Breed features

Cats of this breed have an elongated body, which is covered with shiny long hair. They don’t have undercoat, which is a huge plus. After all, therefore, they have no tricks.
