Burmilla - breed description and cat character

Let me introduce Burmilla! This cat is a real English aristocrat. She is so elegant in appearance and intelligent in manner that many ladies can only envy her. And there is something! After all, some of her habits can only learn.

Burmilla

From the history of the breed

To some this may seem strange and even unthinkable, but burmilla is the ancestor of Persian and Burmese. This breed has another name - Burmese silver. The word burmilla itself is composed of burmese and chinchilla.

Her story began in England in the 81st year of the 20th century, and this happened completely randomly. A citizen of the kingdom, a baroness named Miranda von Kirchberg kept thoroughbred cats in her house, namely, Persians and Burmese. She loved them as much as she considered the best gift in the world. By her kindness and special generosity, she presented the Persian chinchilla cat to her friend. He was not going to breed cats, and the decision was made to sterilize the gift. The unfortunate animal decided to alleviate its fate by running away from the owner - the flayer. However, the Persian could not escape far. In the backyard of the ill-fated house he met a charming Burmese cat. Their unexpected meeting led to the appearance of a cat offspring. Outwardly, the kittens resembled a chinchilla Persian. But after some time, they acquired completely different traits. In adulthood, it was no longer possible to say that there were Persian cats in the family.

Ancestors rewarded their descendants with inexhaustible energy and gentle habits. At a young age, burmill kittens are very playful and mobile. Reaching adulthood, cats of this breed become more calm and restrained, but in no case boring. They are as curious as they were kids. Burmillas are very fond of companies and communication with representatives of the human race.

Due to their curiosity, they often turn out to be participants in unusual incidents. They are kind to their master, and can even protect him in case of danger.

Burmilla with great patience will survive such unpleasant procedures as brushing her ears and teeth, and even cutting her claws cannot force a tailed friend to use aggression against the owner.

Health

Burmilla has good health, especially with proper care and maintenance. However, from Persian cats, they inherited a tendency to polycystic kidney disease. This disease carries a danger, as it can cause renal failure. You should be careful about the health of your pet and feed it correctly in order to avoid similar problems in the future.

If you suspect a cat is in trouble, you must show it to the veterinarian to take timely action. You need to pay attention to the following symptoms that signal kidney problems:

  • Drowsiness.
  • Reducing the amount of food consumed or a complete lack of appetite.
  • Increased urination.
  • Weight loss.

Features of care and maintenance

As a rule, burmillas are not picky in leaving. Caring for them is no different from what cats of other breeds need. It includes feeding, health monitoring and timely vaccination, hygiene procedures: combing, bathing, brushing your teeth and ears.

Burmilla cats care and maintenance

When planning to become the owner of a cat, you need to make sure that she has a place in the house. You can determine it by arranging a pet house there. If the owner does not have clear preferences about the place that he can allocate for the animal, then the cat herself can choose it.

To protect your favorite sofa from the encroachments of a tailed friend, you need to immediately get a claw clutch. Otherwise, the pet can choose a sofa with expensive upholstery for sharpening its own claws. You can buy a claw brush at a pet store or do it yourself. It does not matter. The main thing is that she should be in the house from the first day a cat appears in it.

It is necessary to have at least two special bowls for eating and drinking cats. Most suitable for food plastic with sides up to 5 cm maximum. It is convenient when cat dishes have non-slip legs made of rubber or silicone. Then she will not slip on the floor during the meal.

It is definitely worth identifying the place where the animal will eat and not give food in other places, throwing it on the floor under its feet. Otherwise, the house risks becoming a dirty and badly smelling place. The cat, accustomed to throwing food at her feet, will drag her around the house. But a well-bred cat must run a bowl when he wants to eat.

The animal's toilet must be prepared from the moment of moving to a permanent place of residence. It is best to purchase a special tray at the pet store. Typically, kittens go immediately to the tray if it is with the same filler as in the place where he lived with his cat mom. This point must be checked with the breeder. The best place to equip a restroom with a pet is a bathroom or a master toilet.

As for feeding, they are also most often interested in cat sellers. People who contain burmilla cats for a long time know exactly about the diet and taste preferences of animals.

Where can I buy a burmilla cat?

Many factors influence the cost of a purebred cat. First of all, it is worth deciding on the sex of the pet, the desired color and the possibility of making a purchase. It is not necessary to expect that an absolutely healthy kitten with good pedigree data will be cheap. A good breeder carefully cares for his pets and spends a lot of money on them. Therefore, the cost of maintenance can be repelled only from the sale of offspring.

As a rule, a kitten on sale already has all the necessary vaccinations, is treated for fleas and parasites, is fully socialized and raised.

A cat of this breed is very popular in Europe, but several nurseries, as a rule, can be found in your own country.

Burmill prices average $ 500. A pet class pet will cost less. But cats with valuable pedigree characteristics are much more expensive.
