Bambino - description of the breed and the nature of the cat

It doesn't matter what breed your cat has. The main thing is that everyone in the family loves a pet. Sometimes the kitten that was picked up on the street becomes the main family favorite. However, some dream that their pet would be somewhat unusual, not like those of other owners. Breeders have created a breed that includes cats on short legs. She was called the Bambino. Every year this breed gains an increasing number of its admirers.

Bambino

Her predecessors were sphynx and munchkin cats. Animals of the new breed are characterized by a unique appearance and amazing character. They have a pronounced and undeniable self-esteem, but at the same time, they treat their owners with extreme tenderness. Growing up, they do not waste any playfulness, remaining fans of entertainment. Despite the short legs, this does not prevent them from literally chasing the beloved balls or winding mouse around the apartment. Owners characterize them with the epithet "Eternal child."

Breed history

Among the representatives of all miniature cat breeds, Munchkin was the first. Such cats had a very normal appearance, but the body was with very short paws. The creative thought of the adherents of selection knew no bounds. The result of their labors was the following exotic breed called Napoleon. In appearance, such a cat was like a miniature Persian. The short legs were completely covered with long hair. Both breeds aroused great interest among fans of the cat kingdom. But this was not the limit of the creative impulses of breeders. They continued their search, and as a result of their efforts in 2005, the Bambino breed appeared. The kitten turned out to be completely naked, and short legs moved away from the body.

The kitten was purchased by the Osborne couple, who live in the US state of Arkansas, who were the owners of a cat nursery. The kid looked extremely ridiculous, but at the same time he was perceived as a very moving creature. The head of the family was originally from Italy and had some experience in breeding cats. The new breed was called "Bambino", and this was not accidental. Such a word in Italy refers to young children. This name of the animal was due to its appearance and playful character. In 2006, an animal of this breed was registered, but it only appeared as an experimental status.

Breed in Russia

At the same time, similar actions were carried out in the Russian nursery Baby Moon Cattery. The leader of the work was breeder Maria Chernova. The curator was Elena Chernova. Under her leadership was the international association WCA Nica Center. It registered the first Russian representatives of Bambino. That was in 2005. At that time, as many as 18 representatives of the breed were successfully in the nursery. At first they were called Minskin, but then the name was changed to Bambino. They began to call them "Cat-gnome", but now this name is used extremely rarely.

Minskin is an unrecognized breed of American cats. It is an analogue of Bambino, but does not serve as its variety. The Canadian Sphinxes and Munchkins took part in the selection work. In addition, Devon Rex and Burmese cats took part.

The ancestors of Bambino are hybrids that are carriers of mutant genes. It is no secret to anyone that conducting many years of selection work does not contribute to strengthening the gene pool.Due to the youth of the breed, experts cannot identify, much less justify, the circumstances associated with genetic defects. In those European countries where an animal protection program is in place, actions related to interbreeding and intentional hybridization carried out with animals are not approved. In Germany, for example, the mating of animals with hybrid breeds is a crime and is prosecuted as animal cruelty.

Breed description

Cats are so loved by many fans of this type of pet that they immediately received many other unusual names. Bambino is able to sit on its hind legs for a long time and for this it is called a kangaroo or dragon. For its unusual appearance, it is often called an alien. The breed is characterized by the presence of folds in the frontal region. Big eyes make the cat's charming and expressive face.

Description of the Bambino cat breed

The appearance of the animal is pronounced uniqueness. Perhaps you can not confuse her with any other breed. The coat is completely absent, and the body is elongated and elongated. For this, she is often compared to a dachshund. As for the paws, they have only the lower part short. What is above the knee has quite adequate proportions. The short paw gene has recessiveness. Therefore, in the same litter you can see cats with normal paw lengths.

Nobody removes the signs of the breed from such cats, but they are used only for breeding, but not for participation in exhibitions. Newborn kittens have a body with pronounced folds. However, at the age of one year, many of them are subject to smoothing. In the exhibition version, missing folds are a sign of flaws, but their excess is also unacceptable. The lack of hair on the head visually makes the ears simply huge in size.

Characteristically, the ears can be of different colors. This fully applies to the eyes. There are such instances in which one eye has a yellow and the other a blue tint.

The weight of the animals is small. Rarely, when males by weight exceed 4 kg.

Bambino has a body temperature of 39 degrees. Therefore, people often say that cats are hot to the touch.

Cat character

For Bambino, not only a unique appearance is characteristic, but also the same character. Animals are characterized by increased playfulness, but with the absence of hunting elements. They have absolutely no hunting instinct with characteristic aggression. There is a good ability to get along with any other pets in the family. They easily make friends with dogs, other representatives of the fauna, including birds.

When the animal is 6 months old, it becomes fully socially adapted. However, even at this age they still remain children. Their moral adulthood continues until they are three years old.

They make friends with any member of the family, but at the same time choose the leading member from the entire family structure. When Bambino is left alone, he becomes bored. If you have to leave him alone, you should take care of having enough toys for him. Do not forget that he is an eternal child. Regardless of what age he is, Bambino requires constant attention.

In the house, it is desirable to have a feline complex for the animal. If Bambino is taken to the country, walking with him is necessary only on a leash, since free solitary walks do not guarantee him complete safety. This is due to the fact that he has an exceptionally friendly character and may simply not even be aware of the danger that threatens him.

The cat is usually glad to see guests. Due to its high intelligence, it starts to get used to teams well. No problem allowing you to put on a leash.

Care

Due to the lack of wool, some problems arise. The animal reacts quite sharply to the changing temperature in the surrounding air. With prolonged exposure to the open sun, sunburn may occur. With drafts and low temperatures, the cat may catch a cold. At a low room temperature, it is necessary to choose a cat clothes.

Bambino Cat Care

The sweat produced by the glands located on the cat's body can mix with dust and cause an unpleasant odor. From the first days, the animal must be accustomed to water procedures. Accustomed to them, they will give the pet pleasure.

Wipe your eyes and ears three times a week.

Feeding

Bambino are real gastronomic gourmets and love delicious food. Hyperactive metabolism involves a greater amount of food than for ordinary cats. But in no case should not be overfeeding. This is due to the fact that Bambino are prone to obesity.

They do not have selectivity in food. They feed on both cat food and natural foods. How to feed them - the owner himself chooses.

Disease

Since the breed is new, it is difficult to say that it is for it that any specific diseases are characteristic. But some diseases can still be distinguished:

  1. Due to the long barrel-shaped body, hip dysplasia may develop.
  2. Lack of hair often provokes the development of dermatitis.
  3. Empty estrus cause malignant neoplasms.

If there are no plans to breed cats of this breed, then you need to take care of sterilization. Such activities will significantly reduce the risk of cancer.

Short-legs are facing another problem. The pelvis may not develop properly and tail creases can be observed. If there are such defects, then reproduction is not allowed. And it is always worth remembering that it is not known what consequences can be observed when mutated genes cross

Price

Cats of this breed are quite expensive. You can purchase a kitten in the range from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. Girls are slightly more expensive than boys. The cost also depends on the class.
