Heteromorph analysis - care and maintenance in the aquarium

Heteromorphs analyzes or wedge-shaped (wedge-shaped) analyzes are popular and common aquarium fish that are sold in almost all pet stores. They are small in size and cohabit perfectly with their relatives.

Heteromorph parsing

In natural conditions

The most famous type of parsing is considered to be wedge-spot parsing, which live in Asian countries: Sumatra, Borneo, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

Their habitats are small rivers and streams, which are located next to the jungle. The waters in them are acidic and soft, saturated tea color, in which they are painted with leaves that fell on the water. In nature, they live in packs. Their diet is made up of various insects.

Appearance

The parsing family has about 50 different species. The most popular for aquarium maintenance are heteromorphs or wedge-shaped species. They have miniature sizes and a bright spectacular color. The body length of these fish does not exceed 4 cm. They have a copper-colored body and a large black wedge-shaped speck on the body. It was the color that caused the name of this species. These fish live from 3 to 4 years.

Gender differences

They are distinguished due to the wedge-shaped triangle, which is located on the body, in its rear part. In females, it has a blunter end and is shorter. In males, its wedge is sharper, and the triangle itself is longer.

In addition, the males are slimmer and have an olive-green color of the back, and the belly is silver. The fins in the abdomen are pale pink, and the caudal and dorsal fins are red.

Content Features

They are completely unpretentious for maintenance. It is this factor, together with their small size and attractive appearance, that has become the main reason for their prevalence. Despite the fact that under natural conditions they prefer acidic water more, in the aquarium, wedge-shaped parsings can adapt to its other parameters.

Nutrition

By analyzing the contents of the digestive tract, the analyzes that live in natural conditions revealed that their diet is composed of various insects: worms, larvae, zooplankton.

In artificial reservoirs, cuneiform spotting feeds on any available food. However, it is preferable to feed these fish with live or frozen food: brine shrimp, bloodworm, and tubule. Such nutrition helps to increase their activity and a more saturated and attractive color. It should be taken into account that the parses have mouths of a rather small size. For this reason, it is preferable to feed in small portions.

In an aquarium

Aquarium fish rassbori completely unpretentious and able to adapt to any conditions. They live in a small aquarium. A tank of about 40 liters is enough for a flock.

Preferably, the water has an acidity in the region of 6 to 7, 8 pH and hardness of up to 15 dH. However, they can feel great with its other parameters. But for breeding parsing, they must be within these limits.

Purity of water is very important for fish of this species. Therefore, mainly filtering should be present. It is not necessary to use powerful filters, the main thing is that it is in principle. Every week, a quarter of the water must be replaced with a new one.

In the aquarium, where the samples will be kept, there should be many plants, but enough space for the fish to move freely. It is advisable to use algae that grow in their natural environment. Preference should be given to aponogetone and cryptocoryne, but other species can also be used.

Be sure to equip shelters for these small fish so that they feel comfortable. It is advisable to have floating algae on the surface of the aquarium. This will help create more natural conditions that are as close as possible to natural ones.

It is imperative that they be kept in packs for the reason that under natural conditions they exist in this way. The flock should include from 7 individuals.

The lighting in the tank should be diffuse and dim. The use of dark soil is preferred.

Neighborhood

Peaceful and picky analyzes are perfect for those who do not have experience keeping fish in aquarium conditions. They do not need to create special conditions, and they are able to get along with their own small and calm fish. The best neighbors for parsing are neons, black neons, erythrosonuses, and pristles.

It is categorically contraindicated to add to the analysis of representatives of predators, having large sizes: cichlids, piranhas, and scalars. They enjoy these charming fish with pleasure.

Breeding

Breeding heteromorph parsing
Cuneiform spotted rifts are not very readily propagated at home. Spawning occurs only in the presence of ideal water parameters in the tank. Future parents need to provide quality food. Suitable age for reproduction is from 9 months to a year.

For spawning, it is preferable to relocate them to another tank with a volume of 15 liters, the water level of which should be from 15 to 20 cm. It is necessary that at least 2 males per female. Dilution water parameters should be softer, but not lower than 2 dGH. The ideal temperature is around 27 degrees. In the reservoir for spawning, the presence of cryptocrine bushes or other large algae that have wide leaves is mandatory.

Important! For successful spawning, the aquarium should be sanitized first.

After preparing the aquarium, the female with two males is placed in it. The best time for this is evening. In the morning, the fish begin to spawn. Males begin to flirt with the females and hide with them in algae.

When ready, the females turn their belly up, hiding under a wide leaf of the plant along with the male. During this, the females lay eggs, hiding it under a leaf, which the males then inseminate. Spawning continues for several hours. During this time, parsing lays several hundred eggs.

At the end of spawning, adult fish are resettled in a familiar tank. This must be done so that adults do not eat fry, which should soon hatch. Egg fry appear within 24 hours and after a week they already begin to swim. They feed small fish with small feeds with a high protein content - ciliates and egg yolks. Babies are quite fast in growth and reach 1 cm by the first month. Before moving them to another tank, it is necessary to help the fry adapt to harder water, gradually increasing the level of hardness in the aquarium where they are kept.

Parlors are great for home maintenance, especially for inexperienced aquarists. They are peaceful and calm, do not require special skills and are not capricious.
