How to clean a cauldron from soot at home

Cauldron belongs to the universal types of kitchen utensils. In addition to pilaf, it is also possible to fry meat, cook soup, stew vegetables and much more. But often with frequent use, the cauldron is covered with a layer of soot and fat. It is possible to cope with pollution, but it is worth considering the type of metal and its interaction with various home and purchased products. Consider the basic cleaning methods.

How to clean the cauldron from carbon deposits

Method number 1. Folk remedies

The method is suitable for a cauldron of aluminum or other types of metal. There are several options for implementing this method. You can pour water into a cauldron, put on a stove and boil. In this case, the inside will be cleaned.

If you need to get rid of soot outside, put the cauldron in a common container, fill with water and boil with one of the selected products. The second method is suitable for people who regularly use a cauldron for cooking at the stake.

Means that need to be added to water:

  1. Soda with vinegar. Mix 250-260 ml. table vinegar with 60 gr. table salt and 40 gr. drinking soda. Send this mixture into boiling water, then immediately reduce the power of the stove to a minimum. Boil the cauldron until carbon and fat begin to peel off its surface. Then turn off the stove, allow the liquid to cool, proceed with direct cleaning with a sponge.
  2. Gel for washing dishes. One of the easiest to implement and effective tools. It is enough for you to mix the gel for washing dishes with half a grated bar of laundry soap. This composition must be poured into boiling water and simmer the cauldron for about half an hour. After the deadline, turn off the burner, allow the liquid to cool and proceed with cleaning effortlessly.
  3. Soda, glue, soap. This composition has long been used to clean stubborn fat and soot. Do not pay attention to such ambiguous components, nothing wrong with the dishes will not happen. For one bucket, take 0.5 kg. drinking soda, 2 pieces of hozmila, 0.1 l. silicate glue (can be replaced with PVA). Send this composition to boiling water with a cauldron, wait half an hour.
  4. Citric Acid Powder. The cleaning method does not require large expenditures from you. Lemon powder can be purchased at every store. 1 liter boiling water you need about 40 gr. citric acid. In this composition, rotate the cauldron for about half an hour, then carry out the usual procedure for removing carbon deposits with a sponge.

Method number 2. Shop household chemicals

Supermarket shelves are bursting not only from food, but also a variety of cleaning products for the care of dishes from different materials. Choose household chemicals to remove complex contaminants from the metal, and better - a cauldron.

Method number 3. Calcination

The listed options can be used on cauldrons of a tourist destination made of cast iron.

  1. Cleaning with salt. Pour about 1.5-2.3 kg into a dry dish. salt, calcine in any way possible (oven, stove, etc.). The duration of the procedure is 2 hours. Stir contents periodically.When the cleaning is about to end, the salt will take on a dark shade, and the amount of grease and soot will come to a minimum.
  2. Sand cleaning. For this method you will need dry river sand. Fill the cauldron with them to the brim, leave for 8 hours on low heat for annealing. Stir the contents of the dishes periodically. In the morning, scrape the cauldrons, all the dirt should go away.

If you decide to resort to these cleaning methods while indoors, be sure to open the windows for ventilation or turn on the hood. After completing the manipulations, wipe the cauldrons with a dry cotton cloth (you can use gauze).

Cleaning the aluminum cauldron

  1. Aluminum cauldron, unlike cast iron, is easier to clean. In the first case, the dirt can be removed with a metal brush and all kinds of cleaning powders.
  2. The only drawback of aluminum cookware is that it is forbidden to calcine. Otherwise, the container will be irreparably damaged. It is easy to clean the aluminum cauldron if you follow the recommendations.
  3. To completely clean it inside and out, you need to use a large basin. Such a container must be put on fire and an aluminum product placed in it. In advance, open the windows wide and turn on the hood. During the manipulation, a rather unpleasant odor will be released.
  4. Pour the required amount of water into a metal basin, mix 0.5 kg. soda ash, a piece of grated laundry soap and 2 bottles of glue (silicate). Turn on the hotplate at medium power. After the components dissolve, place in a cauldron.
  5. Boil the product for about 25 minutes. Turn off the stove, wait for the solution to cool completely. Remove the cauldron from the liquid and begin to rub it with a sponge of medium hardness. Use a gel-based detergent. Rinse the dishes with running water.
  6. After manipulation, it is recommended to immediately pour out the solution and rinse the sewer pipe with plenty of clean water. In addition to the above method, the cauldron can be cleaned with a simple method, only you will spend much more time.
  7. Fill a bathtub or large basin with hot water. Stir in 60 grams of liquid. bleaching powder for washing and a special detergent for dishes. Put the cauldron in the solution, you have to wait all night. After waking up, wash the dishes in the usual way. Remember to rinse the cauldron thoroughly with running water.

Cauldron Care Rules

  1. As for the aluminum cauldron, such dishes must be thoroughly washed after each use. In this case, the container will last a long time.
  2. With a cast iron cauldron, things are a little different; the product must be periodically calcined with vegetable oil. The service life will depend on this.
  3. To ignite a cast iron cauldron, it must be washed. Set the container on fire, wait for the moisture to evaporate. Then pour a small amount of vegetable oil into the container.
  4. Remember that the procedure is accompanied by smell and smoke, so keep the windows open. In the process, the oil should not turn into drying oil. Repeat the procedure several times. After this, the carbon deposit will completely stick out.
