How to get rid of bronchitis folk remedies

Bronchitis is an insidious disease that is especially dangerous for young children. It can develop from a seemingly safe cold, and in the most difficult cases it requires immediate hospitalization.

Bronchitis treatment

Although the ailment is quite serious, it can and should be fought at home, but only in cases where the disease is easy, does not cause a debilitating cough and does not cause a high fever for more than three days. Let's talk about this in more detail.

What is bronchitis: know the enemy in person

Bronchitis is a disease localized in the bronchi, which is clear from the name itself. The first symptom is a dry cough, it irritates the respiratory tract, it is very painful and over time does not turn into wet, but, on the contrary, intensifies. By the way, this is the main difference between the disease and the common cold or SARS. In acute infections, a dry cough lasts only a short period, after a couple of days it becomes wet and quickly disappears.

With bronchitis, everything is different. Relief does not occur, the chest is constantly tensing and begins to hurt. The symptom is also caused by another reason: inflammation in the bronchi. Unlike the common cold, the process is localized deeper and leads to aching chest pains.

Another alarming sign is temperature. With bronchitis, it is above 38.5 and lasts a long time, often without even straying. Add to the whole picture a general feeling of well-being, lack of appetite, aching in the bones and muscles - and you will get typical bronchitis. Let's list all the symptoms:

  • Prolonged dry cough, characterized by frequent, painful attacks;
  • Aching pain in the upper chest;
  • High temperature, which is difficult to bring down and which does not last a couple of days, but much longer;
  • General malaise, depressed state, poor appetite.

However, even if you or your loved ones have all the signs on your face, making a diagnosis yourself is not recommended. In advanced forms, bronchitis can cause complications to internal organs, in addition, the disease is very exhausting. That is why you should still consult a doctor and, if necessary, undergo comprehensive treatment, and sometimes even lie in the hospital. Especially if you first encountered an ailment, and even more so if the child fell ill.

But it happens that a disease comes more than once, and a person can recognize it by the very first symptoms. Bronchitis is also dangerous because it is developing rapidly, so it is necessary to treat it as soon as it is suspected. Now we will tell you what remedies can help, but still the most important action is to call a doctor.

Fighting bronchitis without leaving home

The main thing in the treatment of bronchitis is to help cope with a dry cough. After all, this is not at all the same as wet. The essence and mechanism are different.

With a wet cough, the body gets rid of sputum - the vital product of harmful bacteria and our immune response to them. In the fight against the disease, phagocytes - human blood cells that absorb foreign organisms die, and mucus appears, which comes out with a cough. This is normal, it should be so.

But a completely different picture with a dry cough. The work of the lungs is disturbed here, and expectoration of sputum does not occur. That is why we make barking, jerky sounds, and the chest is irritated. But relief does not come, it is even more irritated - that’s the attack of a suffocating, heavy, dry cough.

Radish with honey for bronchitis

That is why the first task is to alleviate the symptom. Verified folk recipes help well:

  1. Radish with honey. Take the middle black radish, make a hole in it and pour there a teaspoon of honey. Let it brew, and then scoop the mixture with a teaspoon.You can use it at least constantly, the cough will soften significantly.
  2. Onions and honey. Grind a small onion in a blender to a pulp state, add a couple of tablespoons of honey to it (you can replace it with sugar), wait until a kind of syrup forms. Eat as often as you remember, a teaspoon. It will certainly help, especially the child.
  3. Prepare a coltsfoot broth, let it brew. It should be taken about 5 times a day. There is a certain scheme: drink half a glass at a time, shortly before eating.
  4. Of course, licorice is well-known to all, or rather, its root. An excellent cough softener. There are several reception options. The first and easiest is just to carefully chew a small piece of dried root. The second is to make a decoction, insist it for about half an hour, and then drink a tablespoon all day (no more than 5 times a day). If there is no licorice, replace it with marshmallow according to the same recipe and intake.
  5. In the very early stages of the development of the disease, plantain will help. He is also brewed, insisted, drunk all day. But it is only effective at the beginning.
  6. Carrot juice is a remedy that the Russian people have long known about. This root crop is also rich in vitamins, so it comprehensively affects all systems, helping to actively resist the disease. If you add honey to the juice, you will get a first-class cure for dry cough.

Herbs, infusions and decoctions are very effective to combine with inhalation. Previously, people boiled potatoes and breathed over it, inhaling warm steam and thereby facilitating their condition. But now you can act differently. Many homes have domestic inhalers - devices that produce special wet steam that makes the course of the disease easier. So, in the case of bronchitis, one of the best recipes for the inhalation solution is Borjomi mineral water, from which the gas should first be released.

But do not rush to resort to inhalation. Although this is an effective method, it is contraindicated in the acute stage of the disease. Until the cough is softened, exposure to steam will not have a positive effect on it. On the contrary, it will irritate the already irritated bronchi even more, which can lead to severe cramping and a long attack.
First we soften the condition with herbs and only then we resort to the help of special devices.

The second task is to cause expectoration of sputum. It is necessary to start its decision only after it has been possible to soften the cough. Here at this stage, the help of an inhaler is simply invaluable. The most effective recipes for solutions:

  • Based on herbal decoctions (chamomile, licorice, breast charges are suitable);
  • Based on combinations of essential oils.

At this stage, you can resort to the most common folk remedies: apply a compress (honey, vodka, etc.) to your chest, put cans or mustard plasters, soak your feet or use a pepper patch. Remember: all thermal procedures are carried out only if there is no temperature, or if it is slightly increased (up to 37.0 - 37.5).

Medicines are faithful allies

But in addition to folk experience, there are also medications that can quickly cope with the disease. Yes there is. But the need for their use can only be understood by a doctor, as well as prescribe the right medication.

Bronchitis Medication

Nevertheless, some general recommendations can be made. First of all, do not rush to immediately grab the pills. Observe the condition of the patient, and most importantly - his sputum. If clear mucus leaves, you may not use tablets at all. There is no danger, and the ailment will recede itself when observing bed rest and taking folk remedies.

If greens, yellowness appeared in the sputum, it became like ordinary snot, which means that the disease developed due to bacteria. It should be treated with an antibiotic.

Bronchitis is just the case when various expectorants are needed (only for dry cough), and they can be used. But! Not for children under 5 years old.In general, children's cough is not treated with any expectorant. The child has not yet such strong lungs, and they are not able to get rid of a large amount of mucus, in the formation of which medications are involved. The result is possible pneumonia.

Cough in babies is treated only with cool and humid air in the apartment, constant warm (but not hot!) Drink, frequent airing of the room (when there is no child in it) - that’s all.

Although bronchitis is a rather serious disease, it can be quickly dealt with by recognizing it at the very first stages. Do not be careless about your health and the health of loved ones, pay attention even to a slight cough - and then everything will be in perfect order!
