Danio Malabar has an unusual color. Three stripes of turquoise-golden color pass along the body of this representative of fish. Like other representatives of this kind, he is beautiful and mobile. Its length can be up to 15 centimeters, but usually about 10 centimeters are found. Its peaceful nature and unpretentiousness allow you to keep this fish with other species of waterfowl.

For the proper maintenance of this type of fish, you need a container with enough water for free swimming. Given that they swim in packs, you need to keep them in a few individuals. The minimum number of fish of this species in one aquarium can be at least 8. Then they will have a clear hierarchy and consistent behavior. For them, you need to choose a capacity of at least 50 liters. In a small amount of water, they will not be able to grow and develop normally.
All types of such fish feel good in fresh water, so every week you need to change the water by 10-15%. The appropriate water temperature for their comfortable stay is +21 - 24 degrees.
Danio flocks love to swim with the stream, so filtering and aeration of the water are required. This type of fish loves underwater spaces. In order for them to have a place where to make maneuvers, they need an aquarium of elongated and long shape. It should be covered, as fish often jump out of the water.
As a soil for the aquarium, you can pick up gravel or pebbles of dark tones. Light is better suited not to bright, but diffused. It’s not worth saving on plants. You should fill the aquarium with various types of algae. It is necessary to divide them into zones, with shelter on one side and a place for free swimming on the other. In the corners of the aquarium, you need to make thickets of plants, so that the fish hid there at the time of fright. They are rather shy, so they will like such shelter.
Fish feeding

Zebrafish breeding
Fish will be ready for spawning when they grow more than 6 centimeters. This occurs at the age of approximately 8 months. Get offspring from these representatives of the fish is quite simple. In this case, males and females need to be planted in different places. At this time, they need to be given live food. The female’s readiness for laying eggs should be determined by the shape of her abdomen. In females, it is thickened not only in front, but also in the back.
In order for the spawning process to go well, pebbles will be needed. Pebbles cover the bottom of the aquarium. The thickness of the layer at the bottom should be about 4 centimeters. If spawning takes place in the winter, then a heater should be placed in the aquarium.
After preparing the aquarium, you can plant fish. It’s better to run them there in the evening. So they will not feel stress. The fish should be put in a container and turn off the light. The next day, the spawning process may already begin.
If the result does not immediately follow, then you should wait a couple of days. In the absence of spawning, the fish need to be planted again in different aquariums and repeat the whole procedure after 2-3 days.
After the appearance of eggs
If everything goes well and the female’s abdomen becomes noticeably smaller, adult individuals will need to be jailed to another location. After that, you need to completely close the aquarium around the perimeter with a dark film. Fry can appear after 36-48 hours. They can be seen attached to the walls of the aquarium. Until they can move freely in the water, they cannot be fed. When they get stronger, it will be possible to feed them with special food for fry. A week later, it will be possible to start feeding larger feeds.
Content with other fish
Malobarsky Danio is not an aggressive, but active species of fish, so smaller species can be scared of their presence. This must be considered when forming an aquarium. By their excessive activity, they can bring calmer inhabitants to stress. At the same time, they can fight back the same nimble fish as they do. They are mainly compatible with most aquarium fish.
What kind of fish are suitable for the neighborhood
Danio Malabarsky live well with many types of fish, but there are those that get along better with them. The most suitable neighbors for this type of fish are Swordsmen, Neons, Scalaria, and Roosters. But neon is considered to be their best neighbor. These two species of fish are similar in lifestyle. They live in packs, and by behavior they will not annoy each other with their active habits. Both species have a peaceful disposition.
Angelfish get along well with this species of fish under one important condition. They must grow in one aquarium. If small representatives of this species are planted in already adult Scalyarians, then they will perceive them as prey.
Who you can't plant zebrafish with
Despite the fact that these fish are quite friendly in nature, there are representatives of aquatic inhabitants who cannot be planted with them. Danio is contraindicated to contain with Goldfish and Cichlids. This is due to the large difference in fish sizes and conditions. Goldfish require colder water at about 18-20 degrees. And Danio needs a warmer temperature.
As for the Cichlids, they may simply not get along with this view. They are quite impressive in size and strive to establish their order in the aquarium. A school of flocks like Danio might not like this.
