The ancestors of the Asian tabby are representatives of as many as three cat breeds. She appeared due to the crossing of Abbis cats, Burmese and Persian chinchillas. Felinologists set out to create a new breed that has a graceful and proportional physique complete with the regality of the Abyssinians. In the early 80s of the 20th century, a new unique cat appeared with a delightful appearance.
As a result, the Asian tabby is endowed with the grace of burmese and the hypnotic look of Abyssinian cats, and also has original colors. This breed is recognized by authoritative associations: WCF, CCCA, SACC, GCCF, LOOF. An Asian cat is rightfully considered a noble aristocrat in the cat world.
Tribal breeding works have contributed to the fact that Asian tabby got many options for the characteristic colors. These colors were given the following names: Tiffany, Tabby, Burmilla, Selfie, Smokey.
In the 90th year, the breed of Asian tabby was recognized in England. Since then, it began to spread throughout the globe, gaining popularity. A large selection of colors was a decisive factor in the fact that the breeders liked the animal. After all, everyone can choose a cat of this breed to their taste.
The first coat colors of the Asian cat were as follows: silver, dark brown, solid. Today, the choice of colors is much more diverse. However, they are not widespread in the post-Soviet countries.
Description
Cats of this breed have a strong, muscular, graceful physique. By breed standards, an Asian tabby must meet the following description:
- Body. Proportionally folded and harmonious. The sizes are larger than average. With a massive skeleton and expressive muscles. The weight of a cat is about 5 kilograms, a cat can reach 8. The chest is well developed.
- Head. It has the shape of a blunt wedge with clearly defined contours. Expressive cheekbones, jaws and chin. The size in relation to the body is small.
- Nose. Medium length, looks relatively large.
- The ears. Large in size with round tips and a slight forward bend.
- Eyes. Very big. Almond shaped. A characteristic amber color.
- Limbs. Proportional to the cat's body. They are distinguished by aristocratic sophistication.
- Tail. Medium length, narrowed to tip from base.
- Wool. Small (short) length, silky and thick.
Colors
The wool has the characteristic colors of a tabby: tiger (classic) tabby, spotted tabby, marble, ticked. In the tabby colors of Asian cats, the following color combinations can be found: brown with black, purple with walnut, blue and silver.
The disadvantages are the green color of the iris, a narrow muzzle, an unacceptably white spot on the neck or paws.
Character Features
