Brief description of the variety

Tomato Slavyanka is a tall variety, its plants are pulled up to the level of 1.6-1.8 meters. In regions with a cool climate, it is grown in greenhouses and film shelters, in the southern regions it feels great on open ground. The leaves of the plant can be large and medium in size. The color of the leaves is light green. Inflorescences are a simple species. The first is formed above the ninth leaf of the plant, the subsequent ones with an interval of 3 sheets.

The ripening period of tomatoes is characterized as mid-early: the fruits can be harvested 110-120 days after the first loops hatch. The productivity of Slavyanka is quite high, each bush can produce up to 5 kilograms of tomatoes.

Fruit characterization

The fruits are distinguished by a characteristic ovoid shape with a small protrusion on the lower part. During ripening, the fruits remain green hues, in the area of the stalk - darkish spots. Ripe berries are famous for their rich raspberry pink color. The size of the fruits is small, usually they gain 80-90 gr., But when grown in greenhouses can reach 120 gr.

Slavyanka tomatoes are especially appreciated for the characteristic tomato flavor and high juiciness of its fruits. They have a dense fleshy pulp with three seed chambers and a thick strong peel, which allows you to subject the fruits to heat treatment without cracking them.

The use of Slavyanka berries is quite universal. They make wonderful summer salads, they are an excellent addition to many vegetable dishes. At the same time, these tomatoes do not lose their taste and elegant appearance when canning whole fruits. They can also be used for the manufacture of tomato paste, juices and various sauces.

Features of agricultural technology

Tomatoes Slavyanka plant seedlings. Usually in the first or second decade of April, its seeds are germinated for seedlings. It is preferable to sow tomatoes in containers with a mixture of garden soil with humus or peat. To create a warm and humid growing conditions, the containers are covered with a film, which is removed after the first loops appear. From this point on, access to sunlight is important for seedlings. Good results can be achieved if you organize lighting, for example, with agrolamps, at least 16 hours a day. When the first true leaves appear on the seedling trunk, it needs a pick - the plants are moved to larger containers.

Growing Tomatoes Slav

The Slavyanka variety does not require any special care, all agricultural activities are fairly standard. First of all, it is:

  1. Regular watering of plants, preferably under the root of the bush, so that drops of water do not fall on the leaves. Water should be used warm. Watering is carried out with an interval of 3-5 days at a moderate air temperature, and daily in a dry hot period.
  2. Loosening. It is also necessary to regularly loosen the soil so that it does not dry out, and the roots of the tomatoes receive enough oxygen.
  3. Top dressing. As usual, tomatoes are fed at least three times per season. Complex mineral or organic fertilizers are suitable for this.
  4. Stepsoning.Plants must be stepsoned as they grow: the extra shoots from the axils of the leaves are removed, forming a bush in one stem. This allows tomatoes to use nutrients to form fruits.

Since the bushes of Slavyanka grow tall, they must be tied to supports, so that the poured fruits do not break the trunk and branches. Trellis is used for this, but tomatoes can be tied directly to the crossbars of the greenhouse.

Slavyanka tomatoes are known for their strong immunity to most nightshade disease. However, the bushes are regularly inspected for preventive purposes, removing diseased leaves and plants. To prevent the disease from spreading to healthy bushes, chemicals are used to treat them. Also, aeration of the greenhouse when dry, warm weather is beneficial for tomato health.

The opinion of gardeners

In their reviews, amateur gardeners invariably praise tomatoes of the Slavyanka variety for its unpretentiousness, rich harvest and resistance to adverse weather changes. Also, many people like the fact that Slavyanka tomatoes are small in size and with a strong skin, which allows them to be preserved whole, and the berries retain both their taste and beautiful appearance.
