The name of the presented variety of the fungus has a fairly primitive origin. This is called the flywheel because it prefers to grow next to the moss. Also, each species has a subscript, be it red or green moss. We are interested in the second option, today we will consider it in detail. It is important to know where it prefers to grow and when fruiting begins.

  1. Refers to an edible type, proportional in format, consisting of a base and a top (hat). In height, fruiting bodies vary from 3 to 11 cm.
  2. The diameter of the tip ranges from 4-20 cm. The surface of the hat is dry, velvet. If it has recently rained or the growth is carried out in a damp environment, then the upper part becomes sticky.
  3. The color of the hat may be brownish or dark green. Young specimens boast a sticky top, and old mushrooms have a flat hat. It can crack if the fungus pings or dries. The skin is soft, does not separate well or does not separate at all.
  4. The soft part is compacted like cotton wool. In shade yellowish with green, may be red. When cut, a characteristic blue pigment is observed. Reproduction is carried out by spores of a brown, brown or olive shade.
  5. Base on cylinder format. At the bottom there is a seal that tapers towards the hat. The leg is smooth, with wrinkles and ribs, can be covered with a net. The diameter varies from 1 to 4 cm.

Growth

  1. They are found in various climatic zones and regions. Distributed in Russia, North America, North Africa, Asia, Australia. Most fruiting bodies are found in areas with moderate climatic conditions.
  2. They build a symbiosis with moss of different species. Also, mycorrhiza can be observed with coniferous or deciduous trees. Preference is given to firs, pines, beech trees, chestnuts, lindens.
  3. As for the territory and the specific place of growth, it is necessary to look for representatives of this species in the former anthills, on the edges, in the meadow parts, on stumps, dead trees.
  4. Difficulties in gathering are definitely there. They grow alone, so the colony cannot be found. You’ll have to try to pick up the basket.
  5. Love the sandy ground. You can deal with collection, starting in May, ending in September or October. Most often found together with Polish mushrooms.

Xerocomus subtomentosus

  1. Such fruiting bodies are one of the most popular and sought after of their kind. Considered mushrooms are quite common. Such fruits can be recognized without much effort due to the golden brown color of the hat. Moreover, its diameter can reach 10 cm.
  2. In such mushrooms, the hat has a pillow-shaped and open shape. In this case, the leg of the fruit is painted in greenish color. It has a cylindrical shape that expands closer to the base. The foot can be up to 9 cm high. The thickness is about 3 cm.
  3. If we compare the color of the legs with a hat, then the first one is lighter. Brick reddish tint is also noticeable. The pulp of the fruiting bodies in question is rather dense and is colored white. But if you cut it, you will see that it turns blue.
  4. Often, green moss flyweeds are found in open clearings, in forests and near roads. Instances in most cases begin to bear fruit from the end of spring to mid-autumn. Such mushrooms can be easily fried, pickled, cooked and frozen. Keep in mind that the fruits in question do not dry, they blacken.

Red flywheel

  1. The presented fruiting bodies became known to many precisely because of their characteristic color. Moreover, each experienced mushroom picker knows where to find such specimens. You can easily find the considered mushrooms mainly in deciduous forests.
  2. In addition, the fruits are often found among low grass and moss. The hat has the same pillow shape. At the same time, its diameter can reach 8 cm. Thickness is about 1 cm. The leg has a yellow color under the hat. Closer to the base, it acquires a crimson color.
  3. In the fruit bodies under consideration, the flesh is colored yellowish, while it has a rather dense structure. Often, mushrooms begin to bear fruit from late summer to mid-autumn. Red mushrooms have a pleasant aroma. Mushroom pickers are advised to cook them immediately after harvest. The fruits are not suitable for storage.

Presented fruiting bodies are quite widespread. Such mushrooms are popular around the world. Instances are quite pleasant in taste and have a classic mushroom aroma. As for the preparation, it is better to take it on the first day after collection.
