Tomato Qingdao - description and characteristics of the variety

Russian gardeners and summer residents, as a rule, grow tomatoes not only for the purpose of eating them fresh, but also for preserving them for the winter. Qingdao's tomato, which will be discussed, is not suitable for making marinades, but it produces juices, tomato sauces, ketchups and pasta. This variety is also appreciated by gardeners for the ability to ripen during storage in a cold room - for example, in a cellar.

Landing

Seedlings
The culture is grown by seedlings. Seedlings for seedlings are usually sown 60 days before planting in the ground. The term is selected individually in each region, depending on the climate. Seeds before planting are processed in a solution of potassium permanganate - this protects the plant from infection with fungal diseases and raises immunity. And it would be nice to treat the hole with ordinary ash - then the acidity of the soil will decrease and potassium top dressing will appear. As soon as the second leaf appears at the seedlings, the seedlings need to be dived - planted in different containers. During the dive, the seedlings should be fed with organic matter - manure, litter or peat.

10-12 days before planting in the soil, the seedlings are hardened - they are taken out into the open air, each time increasing the time spent on the street and adding several minutes daily. Due to this, plants get used to the natural habitat - the sun and air - and do not experience stress during transplantation to the site.

Transfer to the site and care
When the seedlings turn 2 months old, she is transplanted to a new place. If the soil is open, then the site should be constantly lit by the sun and be heated. In the greenhouse, the temperature should not be lower than +25 degrees. One square meter is best planted no more than 3 bushes, otherwise they will interfere with each other. The bush immediately undergoes the formation of 2-3 stems.

Near each bush, it is recommended to establish supports to tie up the culture, otherwise it is likely that the bush will break under the weight of the fruit. So that the yield is higher, the so-called growth point should be removed at the top of the plant.

Caring for the crop includes watering, loosening the soil, fertilizing and combating diseases. You need to water the tomatoes once a day in the evening, when the sun goes down over the horizon. For irrigation, standing warm water is used. It is advisable to loosen the soil as often as possible, because the top layer of the earth dries up and becomes hard, preventing the penetration of air to the roots.

It is advisable to feed Qingdao at least 2 times: the first time when the bushes begin to bloom, and the second when the fruits begin to appear from the ovaries. Complex fertilizers are used as top dressing - a mixture of mineral and organic.

At least twice a month it is recommended to weed the soil and remove weeds, because if they are present, the yield is reduced by 30-40 percent.

Unnecessary shoots must be ruthlessly removed so that they do not waste energy and nutrition.

Protection against diseases and pests

Qingdao has a fairly low immunity, so the culture is quite capable of getting all garden diseases. Preventive treatment of seeds and soil is mandatory, it is worthwhile to carefully monitor the plant - as soon as signs of the disease (twisted or yellowed leaves, rot, spots on foliage) become visible - measures must be taken.

From pests (caterpillars, aphids, Colorado potato beetle) protection is standard - spraying with special toxic agents.

Crop application

Qingdao tomatoes are good for fresh consumption, suitable for processing, production of juices and other derivatives. They are not suitable for conservation.

disadvantages

Unfortunately, tomatoes have two minuses. One big one - berries cannot be stored for a long time, on the 4th-5th day vegetables should be used completely. And small - tomatoes are not suitable for transportation over long distances, so it is advisable that the site is closer to home.
