Can gingerbread be used for breastfeeding?

How many tips a young mother has to listen to about proper nutrition, how many prohibitions and dangers, according to relatives, are fraught with any product. But nevertheless, to ensure proper nutrition during this period, you need not only yourself, because breast milk should be endowed with a full range of nutrients so that the baby develops normally and does not get sick.

Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread will give energy!

Of course, there are products that need to be excluded for this time, for example, alcoholic beverages and products that contain a lot of dyes and preservatives, but you should not refuse a lot from your own menu, you just have to reduce the portions.

Sweets should not be forgotten either, since they bring certain benefits. For example, gingerbread cookies will not only bring joy to a nursing woman due to their taste, but they will also saturate the body with fast carbohydrates, which give energy and increase mood.

These substances are part of cells and tissues, providing:

  • normal functioning of the heart muscles;
  • support for the liver and nervous system;
  • normal sugar concentration.

However, during lactation, you can not immediately eat a large number of gingerbread cookies, especially if they are bought in a store, and not cooked at home. Some manufacturers can add flavorings and spices to the product, which in most cases the child’s body begins to reject. The consequences in this case can be colic, allergies, bloating in the crumbs.

What do experts advise?

Pediatricians advise to eat the first gingerbread after childbirth, when the baby is more than three months old, that is, at that time when its digestive system has become much stronger. The first portion should consist of a small piece, less than half, preferably in the first half of the day, so that, after several feedings, it is possible to observe if the gingerbread has a negative effect on the children's body.

However, if a rash begins to appear on the baby’s tender skin or changes in the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract are detected, gingerbread cookies will have to be forgotten. You can try again and add gingerbread cookies in the diet after two weeks, again introducing in small portions, but it is advisable to replace the gingerbread cookies by choosing another manufacturer.

If everything is normal, and within 36 hours no pathological reaction has occurred, you can increase the portion. But doctors warn that the norm during breastfeeding is no more than 4 pieces per day.

Those women who love gingerbread cookies were unlikely to be interested in what was part of the treat before birth, but now you need to pay close attention to the ingredients. There should not be thickeners and emulsifiers, colorants and preservatives. It is not advisable to stop the choice on those gingerbread cookies that contain nuts or jam, and the surface is abundantly watered with chocolate or artificial glaze.

If the accompanying documents indicate that there is honey in the gingerbread, such a product is not recommended during lactation due to the fact that during preparation the honey was subjected to heat treatment, which means it released harmful substances.

Some gingerbread cookies look very beautiful on the counter, exuding an attractive aroma and attracting the attention of buyers with a bright saturated color. But inviting appearance in most cases is fraught with danger, since this beauty most likely contains harmful dyes that are produced artificially, and dangerous flavors that the child’s body is unable to cope with.

Mom will have to abandon the gingerbread cookies stuffed with various components that can provoke diathesis or allergies. These products include:

  • condensed milk;
  • caramel;
  • jam or jam or other ingredients.

The most common gingerbread cookies, of course, are not as tasty as their great variety with various additives, but there will be no harm from the child.

When buying gingerbread cookies, you need to find out their production date, since this product is considered spoiled after 60 days, and it is impossible to eat it. They should not be with deformations and sagging, dents and crumbled.

Homemade - especially tasty and healthy.

Nevertheless, risks during this period when buying gingerbread can be avoided by mastering an easy recipe and making this type of sweets on your own using those natural products that will not harm the baby, but will bring true pleasure not only to mom, but also to all family members.

Homemade Gingerbread Cookies

There are a lot of gingerbread recipes, but during lactation it is still better to stay on a dietary one.

For cooking, you will need the following products:

  • 700 gr. flour;
  • glass (optional) - kefir, sour cream or fermented baked milk;
  • 1 or 2 cups of sugar (the amount depends on taste preferences);
  • 200 gr. water;
  • some salt;
  • soda, but extinguishing it habitually with vinegar is not necessary due to the presence of an acidic milky medium.

In a large, wide container, soda is added to the selected dairy product, followed by half of the measured sugar and salt. When these ingredients have been thoroughly mixed, flour is gradually added in portions. You will need to knead until your hands remain clean, without sticking lumps.

Now it is very convenient and simple to roll a long bundle from the dough, which then should be cut into separate pieces of the same size. Having formed future gingerbread cookies, they are laid out on a baking sheet, which is preliminarily covered with special paper intended for this process. During the heat treatment, the gingerbread cookies will begin to grow, so on the baking sheet they should be placed at a distance from each other.

The billet is sent to the oven only after it has warmed up to 200 degrees. Sweetness is baked for a small amount of time - about 30 minutes. By this time, syrup should be ready. It is prepared very simply during lactation: the remaining sugar is boiled together with water for 20 minutes. You can make it original by adding mint leaves to the preparation. Having taken out the finished gingerbread and placing it on a dish, they are carefully poured with syrup.

Despite the fact that this is homemade baking, such gingerbreads should be introduced into the diet carefully, observing all the rules.
