How to clean a suede jacket

The material belongs to the category of moody, suede is difficult to tolerate machine and even hand wash. Never squeeze the product or twist it tightly. During processing, only the 30-40 degree mode is used. Otherwise, the thing “sits down”, the structure of the fabric wears out, the pile looks old, worn. However, experts have developed a gentle program that will help clean a suede jacket at home.

Tools required:

  • garment steamer (steam generator, electric kettle);
  • special brush for suede (rubber, silicone).

  1. Hang the jacket on your shoulders, fasten the buttons, walk your hands on the surface of the product.
  2. Turn on the steamer, start processing from the back. Tighten the fabric, go through the device from top to bottom several times, do not twist the steamer in your hands. Movements should be vertical, strictly in one line.
  3. After ironing the back, take a rubber suede brush, “comb” the pile with it while the fabric is still wet.
  4. Go to the front of your jacket. First go through the right side, then process the left. At the end of the manipulation, smooth the pile again with a brush.
  5. Now you need to pull the sleeve and steam it in the direction from the shoulders to the wrist. After that, go to the second sleeve, do the previous manipulations. Again, “comb” the fabric.
  6. Last processed collar and pockets. Carry out the procedure in a similar way: steamed and combed the pile, collecting all the dust and dirt from it.
  7. At the end of all the manipulations, leave the jacket to dry naturally. Choose a place where dust does not settle on clothing.

Important!
In cases where there is no steamer, use an ordinary electric kettle. Pour filtered water into it, boil it, put it on a stool under a suspended jacket. The steam will rise up, you just have to smooth the product by hand and clean it with a brush. If desired, you can replace the kettle with a wide pan, so that the processing area is larger.
